The American Indian Heritage Support Center is
registered as a non-profit corporation under the State of Arkansas. Our area of
operation covers the states of Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee,
Oklahoma, and Kansas.
Our founding voluntary board members are federally enrolled Shawnee, Kiowa,
Cherokee, Muscogee-Creek, and Menominee who were brought together by the common
interest of preserving the varied histories, cultures, and sacred traditions of
the American Indian people.
Our personal experiences range from many years in law enforcement, the arts, to American
Indian Rights activism. One board member is also the Chairman of the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee headquartered in Kansas.
Dedicated to providing accurate sources of information to the public and private
sector, one of our programs is the identifying and warning the public of
exploitation and misappropriation of traditions and sacred ceremonies to prevent
the further dilution and destruction of American Indian cultures.
Finding, and connecting with, one’s American Indian heritage can be a difficult
task for many individuals. Unfortunately, organizations such as Manataka find
willing victims among those searching, and in effect mislead them from their
true heritage.
We urge that individuals thoroughly investigate any organization purporting to
be a legitimate American Indian group before joining, especially those who make
the claim of being a "lost" tribe or offering to connect you with an American
Indian heritage. There are genuine American
Indian organizations that will provide you with the factual information and
connection that you might be seeking. Don’t throw away the very heritage that
you have worked so hard to find.
We hope that this website has been valuable for you. If you have further questions about Manataka, or request other assistance, please send us an e-mail at:
